Summer Drinks that make you Glow

For me, there’s nothing better than a sultry afternoon spent on a shaded terrace with an ice-cool drink in hand. But so often, we’ve all been guilty of sipping from a beverage full of added sugar and artificial flavourings — like something from the Starbucks summer drinks menu.
The good news is, there are so many ways to quench your thirst with something cool that will actually leave you feeling refreshed and renewed, while incorporating all those yummy sweet summer flavours.
So, to celebrate the warmer months of the year, we at Thalia have decided to go through our favourite summer drinks — those that boost vibrancy, increase energy and, of course, get you glowing in that summer sun.
Younger-by-a-Decade Rejuvenating Smoothie
Making you look younger, delivering tons of rejuvenating hydration and aiding your skin’s health, all while tasting delicious — what more could you want!?
There’s so much goodness packed into this sweet and refreshing drink by Estelle Lefebure’s ‘Mindful Beauty’ book. The coconut water offers that kick of hydration you’re after, while the pineapple and banana give you tons of vitamins and fibres your insides crave.
Turmeric is the hidden gem in this sensational concoction. The spice helps cure acne, heal wounds, prevents cancer growth cells, controls blood pressure and so much more!
Best served in the morning or early afternoon, this drink is bound to give you the boost of energy you need for the rest of the day.
- 1 cup (225ml) coconut milk
- 4oz. (125g) chopped pineapple
- 1 peeled and chopped banana
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon chia seeds
Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into tall glasses and enjoy!
Jus De Provence
Strawberries and peaches are synonymous with summer, which is why we couldn’t leave this fantastic drink out of our favourites.
Also from Estelle Lefebure’s ‘Mindful Beauty’, this sweet and refreshing number is high in Vitamin D, healthy fats and antioxidants, and a perfect example of those quintessential summer drink recipes for a crowd.
The lavender flowers give it a freshness that makes it perfect for a warm afternoon tipple.
- 1/2 cup (120ml) almond milk
- 5 strawberries, halved
- 1 peach, pitted and cut into quarters
- Lavender flowers
To prepare, first, pour the almond milk into the blender. Then add the halved strawberries, the peach quarters and a few lavender flowers and blend until smooth. Serve in a tall glass with a few extra lavender flowers sprinkled on top to create that insta-worthy photo.

This recipe is so perfect for satisfying a sweet tooth, it can even double up as a dessert. Full of proteins, fats, vitamins and nutrients, this delicious beauty drink packs a punch — in a really good way.
- 1 cup of preferred milk
- 1/2 cup of raw unsalted cashews
- 1 cup torn curly kale leaves
- 1/4 cup pitted dates
- 2 frozen bananas (If bananas are fresh add 1 cup ice)
Pop in blender and blitz. It’s as simple as that.
